Inspections

Inspections for the equipment that hangs over your stage.

We offer two separate inspection services, both done on site at your location. Choose the one that matches your equipment, or book both.

Rigging System Inspections

Your fly system, checked from the grid to the rail.

Scenery, lights, and drapes hang over performers, students, and audiences. Equipment manufacturers and industry standards call for an inspection of the installed rigging system by a qualified person at least once a year, and some warranties require one on file.

You get a written report listing what we checked, what we found, and the repairs we recommend, ranked by priority. If repairs are needed, we give you a plan to move forward: what to fix first, who can do the work, and what to budget for.

Chain Hoist Inspections

Every hoist inspected, documented, and ready to fly.

Electric chain hoists need regular inspection and maintenance under the manufacturer's requirements and the applicable ANSI standards. Hoist work is led by a CM-ET Qualified Motor Mechanic who is also Liftket trained.

We come to you. Inspections are done on site at your shop, warehouse, or venue, and each hoist is recorded by serial number so you have a clear history for every unit in your inventory.

Repairs and parts: when a hoist needs work, we quote the repair, source the parts, and complete it where we're able to, then return the hoist to service with an updated record. If a repair has to go to the manufacturer or an authorized service center, we'll tell you and help arrange it.

Every hoist gets an inspection record. Any unit that needs work is tagged out until it's repaired.

Questions

Inspection FAQ

Which inspection do I need?

If your venue has a fly system built into the building, you need a rigging system inspection. If you own portable electric chain hoists for truss or touring rigs, you need a chain hoist inspection. Some venues have both.

How often should our rigging system be inspected?

At least once a year. Systems that see heavy use, or that have been modified, damaged, or moved, should be checked sooner.

How often do chain hoists need inspection?

Hoists need quick checks by the operator before each use and a documented periodic inspection by a qualified technician. How often depends on how hard the hoists work; touring and heavy-use inventories need it more often. We'll recommend a schedule for your inventory.

Where do hoist inspections happen?

On site. We travel to your shop, warehouse, or venue, set up a work area, and go through the hoists one at a time.

What if you find a problem?

Anything unsafe is flagged on the spot and taken out of service. Everything else goes in the report with a recommended fix. For rigging systems, we give you a plan to move forward, including who can do the work. For chain hoists, we can source the parts and do the repair ourselves in most cases, and we quote that work before starting.

Can you get replacement parts for chain hoists?

Yes. We source replacement hoist parts, including manufacturer parts where they're required. Some hoists and parts need to go to the manufacturer or an authorized service center, and we'll tell you when that's the case.

Is an inspection due?

Tell us about your venue or your hoist inventory and we'll send a quote.
